The Heart of Visual Storytelling
with Amy Mariani Wright

From traveling the country as a circus performer to becoming an Emmy-nominated visual storyteller, Amy Mariani Wright’s journey is anything but ordinary. Growing up with clown parents and performing as an elephant rider, Amy developed creativity, adaptability, and a unique perspective that now shapes her work as senior videographer at BluePearl Pet Hospital.

For aspiring visual storytellers, Amy offers valuable advice: remain curious, care genuinely about your subjects, and recognize that everyone has an interesting story. Amy emphasizes the importance of nonverbal communication elements in visual storytelling – from music to composition to body language. Most importantly, she advises creators to trust their instincts and remember that touching even one person with your work means you've succeeded.

Amy's journey illustrates how unconventional experiences can shape creative perspectives. Her work continues to evolve as she pushes herself to grow with each project, guided by her mother's wisdom: "If you're green, you're growing; if you're ripe, you're rotten."

Through her lens, Amy captures not just images but the human stories behind veterinary medicine, connecting viewers with the compassion and dedication that drives animal healthcare professionals.

About Amy Mariani Wright

I’m a visual storyteller who started her career giving traffic reports on the radio for the Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa markets and now is the Senior Videographer at BluePearl Pet Hospital, leading all video and photo initiatives for this national chain of specialty and emergency pet hospitals. Those initiatives span from national marketing campaigns to internal programs to BluePearl’s presence at national trade shows.

Originally born and raised in New York, I spent much of my childhood travelling in the circus with my clown parents and through that (plus my work travels), I’ve had the pleasure of going to 48 out of 50 states. During my time on the road, I was an elephant rider and studied acrobatics under the most talented European gymnasts (though I can’t do much now!). Once we left the circus, my family moved to Florida where I’ve lived ever since.
